Boardroom Christmas Party

It was that time of the year again where the owner takes all the Boardroom staff out for dinner and drinks to celebrate another successful year. When you get west 4th Boardroom, Boardroom Clearance, North Van Boardroom and all the warehouse people it is sure to be an entertaining night. It was at this place Urban Winery which is located on 55 Dunlevy. Spinning beats all night was our in shop DJ VilvDaddy (Chrys Vilvang), he was dropping hammers all night to get the party going and the dance floor rocking!! It was an all you can eat style dinner and we drank until we couldn't walk straight...... Secret Santa was also a success for everybody cause we all got some very cool and interesting gifts. Highlights of the night consisted of Tak and Travis wearing the exact same outfits... and as per usual Taylor, Ruguy and Simpson were on fire with their shenanigans. Thanks to everyone that made that night possible.

Whistler Mountain Is Open

Whistler Mountain opened up this past weekend. With Blue bird skies and only a couple runs open it was nice to get back out on the board again to do some laps. This is going to be an amazing season and can't wait for all the powder lines to come and for the terrain parks and pipe to open up. Thanks to Mike Strato from Vans for my boots and thanks to Myrosha and Nick from RipCurl for all my gear.

BBQ Mini Ramp Night Shoot

Last week I held another BBQ at my house for my friends and co-workers. I was busy cooking up burgers for everybody while they were skating and drinking some beers. But when the sun went down I lighted up my ramp so I could have a night shoot on it. Mark was the photographer and brought out his camera to get some cool shots. So me and Casey did a couple tricks to get some photos. Casey got this sick frontside boneless that was easily a couple feet out of the ramp. Off the camera he was doing lots of sweet lines to. I got a couple cool shots you can check out below. After we finished up skating we drank and played beer pong for the rest of the night. Thanks to everybody that came out and had a good time!!

Quiksilver Pro New York

The Quiksilver Pro just wrapped up in Long Beach, New york. Kelly slater who had just won his previous two contests was looking to make it three wins in a row and make it that much closer to another world title. But in the finals Ripcurl rider Owen Wright edged out Slater to take the win. Owen won $300,000 which was the largest single contest purse in surfing so far. check out the finals between Slater and Wright.

Hawaii

My parents took me and my sisters down to Maui for a family vacation before we all had to go back to school. The weather down there was 30+ degrees everyday so needless to say i got a very good tan from it. We checked out a lot of different beaches and different shops. I brought my surfboard with me but unfortunately I could only surf one day cause there weren't any waves to the beaches we went. We did some snorkeling and that was really cool, saw all different kinds of fish and turtles. Maui is a good place to just kick back and relax.

First Annual Boardroom Back Yard Barbeque, Beer Pong and Skate Jam

I had a barbeque at my house for me and all my friends at Boardroom that worked on the sales floor with me. I was expecting about 20 people to show up but in the end people bailed and only 10 of my friends showed up. I had the cooler and fridge stocked with beer and the barbeque stocked with burgers and hot dogs!!! Needless to say I was left with a lot of left over food and beer...... All the girls sat around the table drinking and talking about well whatever girls talk about these days.... Us boys charged the ramp or at least tried to. Spencer Gilley was the one man killing machine doing lines for days while all the others tried to keep up. With my ankle still bugging me I was busy cooking burgers for everybody but I ended up making a quick cameo appearance on the ramp. When the sun went down we lit the night lights up on the beer pong table and put a heavy dent in the cooler of beer. All in all everybody had a good time and I look forward to throwing another Barbeque soon.... Thanks to my friends that showed up and to all of my co-workers that bailed you better be in attendance for the next big Skate, Beer Pong Jam!!!!

US Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach California

Me and Kim decided to do a surf road trip along the Pacific Coastal Highway through Oregon and California until we got to our final stop of Huntington Beach to watch the US Open of Surfing. We left at 5am on july 26th and made our way down to the coast eventually in the afternoon. We checked out this spot called Crescent Beach which is just off the highway where the waves are about 3 feet but go on forever. From there we camped for 3 nights checking out cool places like San Fransisco, Santa Barbara, Venture and surfing along the way. We finally made it down to Huntington beach where we ended up staying for 5 nights. Huntington beach is such a big tourist destination in the summer, so with 25+ degree weather and 310,000 dollars up for grabs at the US Open the beaches were packed!! We surfed in the morning everyday before the afternoon crowds came. We checked out all the surf shops to do some shopping and we ate at some amazing restaurants. Every year the US Open brings the best riders from around the world and needless to say Me and Kim were blown away. The highlight of the trip was seeing Kelly Slater surf and blowing away the rest off the field. Kelly Slater has won 10 World Titles and has been at the top of surfing for almost 2 decades now. He ended up winning the US Open and the 100,000 dollar first place cheque. It was also really cool to see Mick Fanning and Taj Barrow surf because they are some of my favorite surfers, and on the girls side Alana Blanchard, Coco Ho, and Carrisa Moore with there smooth style. We also checked out Laguna Beach and Newport Beach while we were in the area then headed back on up the highway to get home on August 5th. Unbelievable trip and can't wait to go back next year.

Camp of Champions

Camp of Champions is probably the most fun time of the year to snowboard. Its sunny everyday with warm weather, a perfect park and a good crew of friends. I did camp during session B. I had a lot of fun and learnt some new tricks. There was an air bag set up so I spent a good portion of my time learning those infamous double corks. I was able to learn frontside 1080 double corks into the air bag landing on my board and I am really stoked to take them to the snow when the season starts up again for the winter. On the last day of camp The Vivo pro team came up ( Devan Walsh, Kevin Griffin and Kale Stephens) and did a bbq and we had a halfpipe session. It was so much fun riding with those guys!! All in all I had a great time at camp and can't wait for the season to get started up again.

Billabong Anteup

On Canada Day (July 1) Billabong put on a 5 star TTR big air contest on Whistler mountain. There was only room for 30 invited riders so the contest field was stacked with heavy hitters like Seb Toutant, Chas Guldemond, Eric Willet, Sage Kotsenburg..... just to name a few. I was lucky enough to make it on that list and compete and hang out with everyone!! It was a 90 foot jump and needless to say it was a bit intimidating. This was the first jump I had hit in 3 months because i was coming off a broken bone in my ankle. Still with my ankle not healed yet I taped it up like crazy and just prayed it wouldn't give out on me. Unfortunately I  couldn't put down the run I wanted do. I was going for a frontside 1080 but going off the take off I didn't get the pop I needed and it turned into a lame 720. I rode badly and was really embarrassed that I let people down but I still had a good time and gained some valuable experience. Heres a recap video of the contest....

After one of the rainiest months in May I have ever seen ment that my ramp had to get put on hold. But finally when June came around the weather has been sunny and warm. So with the help of Tak, me and him resurfaced my ramp with a fresh smooth hardboard top sheet. It's time to dust our skateboards off for the summer and let those bbq and ramp sessions begin!! Now it time to go skate and check back later to see an opending day edit.....
